Our previous pick for best air purifier, the Hozone Air Purifier, is still a great option. It’s a bit more expensive than our main pick, but it also has some advantages. First, this purifier has a much wider purifying range: it kills bacteria, pet dander, and even neutralizes smoke and dust mite allergens—all without chemicals. It’s also one of the quietest purifiers we tested.
However, this purifier isn’t as powerful at removing odors as our main pick. It can’t compete with the amount of odor-eliminating power you get from a similarly priced box fan with a couple of activated charcoal bags thrown in.
Like the Blueair NewAir Purifier we tested, this model ran out of power much quicker than other purifiers we tried. It also has no smartphone app or voice control options, making it one of the least technologically advanced purifiers we tested—a feature that may or may not be a drawback depending on your preferences.
